The FRP of all four silencers is noticeable to bystanders, with that of the RT30Ti being the least noticeable. Direct comparisons are provided in Section 6.35.2, below. With subsonic 300 BLK, the RT30Ti is quieter to bystanders than the Energetic Armament VOX S, the YHM Resonator K, and the Q Half Nelson. This is one of the reasons why The Silencer Sound Standard requires examining multiple sound signature metrics. The FRP phenomenon cannot always be shown by viewing only the peak sound pressure. PEW Science Note 2: First-round sound signatures always differ from subsequent shots, as the atmosphere within the silencer changes. This is a reflection, in impulse space, of the low amplitude of the early-time endcap exit event pressure. PEW Science Note 1: There is a very smooth, relatively featureless rise in impulse at a time of 29.6 ms with the RT30Ti that is not observed in the signatures of the VOX S, Half Nelson, or Resonator K. The Q Half Nelson has more FRP impulse at the muzzle than the RT30Ti. However, it is interesting to note that although the FRP is noticeable, the overall magnitude of the FRP impulse with the RT30Ti is similar to the impulse of all shots with the Energetic Armament VOX-S that is, the VOX-S exhibits a sound signature at the muzzle that is always louder than that of the RT30Ti. The first round pop is postulated to be noticeable to bystanders, as determined by PEW Science inner-ear response analysis. Figure 3 shows a more exaggerated FRP in impulse space. Again, full and short timescales are shown.įigure 2 shows a slight pressure regime first-round-pop (FRP). The real sound impulse (momentum transfer potential) histories from the same 5-shot test are shown in Figure 3. A zoomed-in timescale displays the region of peak sound pressure in Figure 2b, for the first two shots. The primary sound signature pressure histories for all 5 shots are shown in Figure 2a. Overall subsonic 300 BLK performance comparisons of the two silencers are shown in Section 6.35.2 of this review. One notable difference between the early-time signature of the RT30Ti and those two silencers with subsonic 300 BLK is the significantly lower amplitude of the end-cap exit event with the RT30Ti. For comparison, the reader is encouraged to examine the subsonic 300 BLK test first round signatures of the Q Half Nelson in Sound Signature Review 6.29 and the Energetic Armament VOX S in Sound Signature Review 6.25. This is postulated to occur as a result of the length and baffle quantity of the RT30Ti. One distinguishing feature of the signature shown in Figure 1 is the delayed rise to a significant peak amplitude during the end-cap exit event. The RT30Ti can be obtained from Richmond Tactical. The silencer and brake weigh 12.8 and 1.5 ounces, respectively, for a total system weight of 14.3 ounces, as tested. The silencer is tubeless and constructed of 6AL-4V titanium and the muzzle brake is constructed of 17-4 heat treated stainless steel. The silencer has a removable end-cap that may be fitted with a wipe, if desired. The silencer is also available with a rear modular threading option in 1.375″ x 24 tpi for use with third-party mount options. The silencer mounts to a proprietary two-port muzzle brake mount the attachment of the silencer to the mount is facilitated by coarse threads behind a forward seating taper. It has a 1.61-inch diameter and is 8.375 inches in length. It is a 30 caliber centerfire rifle silencer, intended to suppress most cartridges with projectiles appropriately sized to travel through the bore, including 300 Winchester Magnum. The RT30Ti is designed and manufactured by Richmond Tactical. Richmond Tactical RT30Ti on a Q mini FIX 300 BLK with 8-in Barrel

^ "Environment Canada - Weather and Meteorology - Canada's Wind Chill Index".Review of research on military problems in cold regions. ^ a b c d e f Kozlowski, Rosann (30 March 2020).The standard wind chill formula for Environment Canada is: The results of this model may be approximated, to within one degree, from the following formulas. The model corrects the officially measured wind speed to the wind speed at face height, assuming the person is in an open field. Heat transfer was calculated for a bare face in wind, facing the wind, while walking into it at 1.4 m/s (5.0 km/h 3.1 mph). It is determined by iterating a model of skin temperature under various wind speeds and temperatures using standard engineering correlations of wind speed and heat transfer rate. In November 2001, Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom implemented a new wind chill index developed by scientists and medical experts on the Joint Action Group for Temperature Indices (JAG/TI). North American and United Kingdom wind chill index The chart also provided general guidance to comfort and hazard through threshold values of the index, such as 1400, which was the threshold for frostbite. Each individual calibrated the scale of numbers personally, through experience. Until the 1970s, the coldest parts of Canada reported the original Wind Chill Index, a three- or four-digit number with units of kilocalories/hour per square metre. This led to more realistic (warmer-sounding) values of equivalent temperature.Įquivalent temperature was not universally used in North America until the 21st century. He redefined the absence of wind to be an air speed of 1.8 metres per second (6.5 km/h 4.0 mph), which was about as low a wind speed as a cup anemometer could measure. Charles Eagan realized that people are rarely still and that even when it is calm, there is some air movement. This led to equivalent temperatures that exaggerated the severity of the weather. At first, it was defined as the temperature at which the windchill index would be the same in the complete absence of wind. The author of this change is unknown, but it was not Siple or Passel as is generally believed. In the 1960s, wind chill began to be reported as a wind chill equivalent temperature (WCET), which is theoretically less useful. The so-called Windchill Index provided a pretty good indication of the severity of the weather. They were based on the cooling rate of a small plastic bottle as its contents turned to ice while suspended in the wind on the expedition hut roof, at the same level as the anemometer. Passel working in the Antarctic before the Second World War, and were made available by the National Weather Service by the 1970s. The first wind chill formulas and tables were developed by Paul Allman Siple and Charles F. and Canadian weather services use a model accepted by the National Weather Service. Weather services in different countries use standards unique to their country or region for example, the U.S. All the formulas attempt to qualitatively predict the effect of wind on the temperature humans perceive. Many formulas exist for wind chill because, unlike temperature, wind chill has no universally agreed-upon standard definition or measurement. The faster the wind speed, the more readily the surface cools. Moving air disrupts this boundary layer, or epiclimate, allowing for cooler air to replace the warm air against the surface. As convection from a warm surface heats the air around it, an insulating boundary layer of warm air forms against the surface. The rate of convection depends on both the difference in temperature between the surface and the fluid surrounding it and the velocity of that fluid with respect to the surface. When the apparent temperature is higher than the air temperature, the heat index is used instead.Ī surface loses heat through conduction, evaporation, convection, and radiation. Wind chill numbers are always lower than the air temperature for values where the formula is valid. Wind chill or windchill (popularly wind chill factor) is the lowering of body temperature due to the passing flow of lower-temperature air. A chart of wind chill values for given air temperatures and wind speeds For other uses, see Wind chill (disambiguation). This article is about the meteorological effect of "wind chill". Yes! I think it was wedding two where we gave the planners feedback that we wanted more social media moments. Without spoilers, were there any moments that blew you away? I wanted to be a great mentor to them while also doing myself justice, so it was a lot of pressure. I felt a lot of pressure but also, I was looking at the wedding planners - who were nervous about being judged - I often wanted to give them a hug and tell them “it’s going to be okay”. I wanted to be myself, but I also wanted to be the best version of myself, as well as delivering what the show needed. It was a huge learning experience for me. So, it was a learning experience for you? I really trusted the team who made the show and said on the first day of filming “look, this is my first time doing anything like this, so I want to get better every day and need your feedback.” I loved the personal development I went on through the show, as well as, of course, enjoying the weddings and seeing the planners grow. Being on Dragons’ Den is a business meeting that gets filmed essentially and I’ve done a little bit of presenting previously, but this was a big step up for me. My role is a combination of judge and presenter, so to start with it was really out of my comfort zone. You’re a judge on Ultimate Wedding Planner! Tell us about the process and any highlights from the series.īeing a judge is unlike anything I’ve ever done before. Made by BBC Studios for BBC Two, Ultimate Wedding Planner comes to BBC Two and BBC iPlayer from Tuesday 8 August.Īll pictures are available to download from BBC Pictures. With exclusive mentoring from industry expert Raj up for grabs, and an ultimate prize package designed to help one of them launch their own wedding business, let the battle to be named Ultimate Wedding Planner commence! Will it be wedded bliss or a nuptial nightmare? With the couples’ ambitious wedding wish lists ranging from a 1950’s vintage Hollywood glamour wedding to a Caribbean infused autumnal fantasyland, a regal regency extravaganza, a sustainable farmyard festival, and a millionaire’s garden party, our eight wedding planner wannabes need to pull out all the stops to hit the couples’ brief, face the Truth Booth, and impress three demanding judges: hospitality expert Fred Sirieix, craft and business guru Sara Davies and wedding planner to the rich and famous, Raj Somaiya. From table scaping, incredible floral centrepieces, hand crafted aisle runners, personalised set menus, and bespoke themed installation builds, to spectacular firework displays, acrobatics, choreographed dance troops or incredible light displays, each week the planners have just three days to make the couples’ wildest dreams a reality, supersizing their wedding day to transform it from ordinary to extraordinary. The planners are set to take over the design and guest experience for six real-life weddings. Eight aspiring wedding planners battle it out to become Ultimate Wedding Planner, as six brave couples agree to let them take control of the biggest day of their lives. In the above example, a new virtual environment with Python 3.5.1 is created in the user's /work directory. In addition, users can create environments in different locations by modifying the installation path passed to the venv command. Users may customize the version of Python used in the virtual environment by loading specific Python modulefiles during the environment creation process. This environment is created on top of the existing Python installation associated with the python/3.9.6 modulefile, which serves as a "base" for the virtual environment. In the above example, a new virtual environment with Python 3.9.6 is created in the user's home directory. To create a new virtual environment using venv, first load one of the Python 3 modulefiles from within a command-line session on Longleaf, then invoke the venv command followed by the path to the directory where you would like the environment to be created. Venv is a lightweight tool for creating virtual environments that is included as part of the Python 3 Standard Library. Creating virtual environments with venv and pip In addition, using virtual environments helps to improve scientific reproducibility by allowing others to more easily replicate the computational environment in which an analysis was conducted. Using separate virtual environments for each project allows users to install and upgrade Python packages as needed without having to worry about creating dependency conflicts in their other projects. A Python virtual environment is a directory structure that contains all the necessary executables and packages needed to build and run a Python-based project. In order to manage dependency requirements for multiple projects, we strongly recommend that users install their local packages into isolated "virtual" Python environments. Dependency management with virtual environments Similarly, minimum package version requirements can be specified using the >= operator: $ python -m pip install -user pandas>=2.0.2įor more information on installing packages using pip, please refer to the pip user guide. Pip can be used to install specific package versions using the = operator: $ python -m pip install -user pandas=2.0.2 In the above example, pandas will be installed to the user-specific site-packages directory for Python 3.9 ( ~/.local/lib/python3.9/site-packages). Using the pandas package as an example, users can install the latest release of the package to their home directory from within a command-line session on Longleaf using the following commands: $ module load python/3.9.6īecause users only have write access to specific locations on Longleaf such as their home directories, it is necessary to include the -user flag when doing pip installs. Pip is a package-management system that installs packages from the PyPi repository through a command-line interface. There there are numerous open-source packages available for download through the Python Package Index ( PyPi) repository. User-specific package installations with pip The system-wide versions of Python often include common scientific packages such as numpy and scipy, and are sufficient for basic computations however, most research projects will require users to install additional packages themselves using pip or conda. nas/longleaf/rhel8/apps/python/3.9.6/bin/python To identify the location of the currently-loaded python interpreter, you may use the which command.
